Benjamin Weaver, 25, started singing in Blackburn Cathedral Choir aged nine. When he was 16 he went Chethams School of Music in Manchester to develop his voice. In 2001 he started to develop his operatic technique at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. After completing his BMus (Hhons) at the RNCM in 2005 he moved up to Glasgow to continue his studies as a Postgraduate at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Having gained PGDips in Concert Singing and Opera Studies over the last years, he is currently on the fi rst year of the Opera School at the RSAMD studying for his MMus. Benjamin’s operatic performances to date include excerpts from Mozart’s Don Giovanni (Count Almaviva) and The Magic Flute (Papageno); Dr Malatesta and Belcore Donizetti; Faninal Strauss; he has also performed the roles of Sir Marmaduke Pointdextre The Sorcerer - Buxton G&S Festival Aug 2007 Masetto Don Giovanni - RSAMD Jun 2007 Sid (Cover) Albert Herring - RSAMD May 2007 Il Notaro Gianni Schicchi - Glasgow Theatre Royal, Edinburgh Festival Theatre Jan 2007 Mago Cristiano Rinaldo – RSAMD, Edinburgh Festival Theatre 2006. In June he will play the Marquis de la Force in Dialogues des Carmelites by Poulenc at the RSAMD.
