Sir Tim Rice

Born Timothy Miles Bindon Rice, in Buckinghamshire, England on the 10th of November 1944. He was educated at St Andrews School and Lancing College. When he finished college he pursued a career in law, but then got a job as a trainee manager for EMI records in 1966.He is most famous for his work with Andrew Lloyd Webber in the Musicals Joseph and the Technical Coloured Dream Coat, Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita. He has also worked with Disney, Elton John and Freddie Mercury. In 1999 he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and in 2002 he was named a Disney Legend. Other work he has done includes writing the Theme tune for the Bond film, ‘Octopussy’. And he wrote 3 songs on Freddie Mercury’s solo album ‘Barcelona’. Some of his Disney work includes The Lion King and The Road to El Dorado alongside Elton John. He is also the co-author of the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1994. In December 2002 he became a foster father on his Dundonnell estate in Western Ross for 200 hedgehogs facing the Death sentence in the western isles.
