Not So Hard To Imagine

Not So Hard To Imagine was a movement piece with a "white cube", this was achieved by using white dance floor and rigging white drapes.

Plump

Plump was a video piece with the main focus being the projection, so naturally the main focus was a white cyc that was rigged at the back of the Chandler space.

Paradise (Lost)

Paradise (Lost) was a dance/fashion piece telling the story of Genesis through dance.

A catwalk was made out of five pieces of steel deck of varying heights from 200mm to 1000mm, God also had their own personal platform which stood at 1000mm in height.

At the end of the show a dress that was made by the performers to represent the forbidden tree flew in and landed on one of the performers and unfurled to show the dress.

This was achieved by a simply pulley and hooks that the performers unhooked when the dress was in at its dead.

The flying was done by Aimee Fleming.

Two Cowboys And The Sky

Two Cowboys And The Sky was an interactive kids show where the kids got to play simple instruments while the performers lead them through a musical journey.

The stage was three rolls of white dance floor and an upright piano on top of the dance floor. We used sheets of plywood to help stop the dance floor getting damaged.

Guess What

Guess What was a game show that talked about land ownership and the responsibility that landowners have.

The stage was mainly a checkerboard vinyl flooring to represent a board game with the audience on steel deck at either side.

All The Worlds A Stage

All The Worlds A Stage was mainly a festival that took place on the streets outside of the RCS building on Renfrew St.

It had many performances ranging from musical performances to ballet.

The stage mainly consisted steel deck with some sound equipment.

Sound

For this show we opted to have the a system that would work for all 6 of the performances over the 3 weeks. We decided to put 4 of the EX6's at each corner of the space and 2 EX1.5's in 2 corners USR and DSL. We decided to use the SQ5 for this production as it gave us more flexibility as we where running this similarly to a festival set up.

I opted to use as much networking as possible during this production to allow for easy control of multiple elements.

I ran both QLab Collaboration and SQ Mix Pad from my AP which was plugged into a network switch. We also triggered lighting using OSC from QLab in timed groups to a piece of music.

Due to IP ranges being locked down on Network Adapters I had to fit the rest of the equipment around this;

Mac Studio - 192.168.1.222 Access Point - 192.168.253.254 Personal Macs - 192.168.1.100/110 Projector - 192.168.1.85 SQ5 - 192.168.1.111

EOS - 192.168.1.240

TheatreMix - I used the program theatre mix to control desk scenes, which would apply and change the FX units on the desk to channels. This meant we could recall scenes at time moments using OSC from QLab to talk to TheatreMix.

Video

A few of the productions required video for there shows, this included elements like projecting film and images, and displaying video on some TV Screens.

I opted to use HDMI over Ethernet Adapters for this show as the reliability of optical HDMI in the past has put me off using this.

We used the Panasonic PT-D5700E Projector from AV for this production, this projector did work well however I didn't have as much control over image size and brightness due to the projectors capabilities. I knew to keep ample brightness in the space the furtherest distance I could rig the projector was around 13m from the projection surface giving me a maximum screen size of 6.4m x 3.6m.

I used a piece of software called Projector Manager to control the projectors parameters from QLab using OSC. /av mute (0/1) would control the projectors shutter meaning you can get rid of the light bleed from the projector when there is no media playing.

I had no issues running AV from the same QLab file as sound as the Mac Studio handled this without any issues. Even when using compressed video file types.
