Miranda Sinani

Miranda was born in Tirana, Albania. She started singing at the age of 15 when she entered the National Music College in Tirana. She moved to Britain in 2001 when she was offered a scholarship place at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), Manchester, successfully completing a BMus (Hons) degree and Postgraduate Diploma. Miranda is now a Master of Music in Opera student at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama studying with Patricia Hay. Whilst at the RNCM, Miranda took part in the College’s productions of Tchaikovsky’s Queen of Sspades and Mozart’s Don Giovanni. She has also sung the role of Susanna in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Giulietta in Bellini’s I Capuleti e I Montecchi and Despina in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte in the RNCM opera scenes. For the RSAMD opera scenes Miranda has performed the role of Susanna in Mozart‘s Le nozze di Figaro and Melisande in Debussy’s Pelleas and Melisande. In 2002 she was a finalist of the Kathleen Ferrier Bursary Award for Young Singers representing RNCM, and in 2005 a finalist of the Joyce and Michael Kennedy Award for the singing of Strauss and the winner of the prestigious Frederic Cox Award. Miranda’s oratorio repertoire includes Pergolessi’s Sstabat Matter and Ssalve Regina, Bach’s B minor Mass, Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Brahm’s Requiem. Her recent major engagements include Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen with the Scarborough Symphony Orchestra, BBC World Service Broadcast recital with Julius Drake at the Warehouse (London), a solo recital at the Bridgewater Hall (Manchester), the title role of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Princess Ida (Buxton) and more recently the role of Miss Hemingford in the world premiere of Andrew Lowe-Watson’s Marianne Dreams at the Sadler’s Wells Theatre (London).
