For the Opera Masters 2016 production of Owen Wingrave the stage management team were required to thicken the fake blood for easier application to a cast members face.

You first need to buy a small packet of gelatine from a nearby supermarket.

Step 1: Mix 1/3 water and 2/3 blood together in a bowl or cup

Step 2: Heat up the liquid mixture in a microwave or on the hob (whichever you prefer)

Step 3: Add small amounts of the gelatine crystal packet (about 1/4 - 1/2) to the liquid while constantly stirring with a spoon. Do not add the whole packet!

Step 4: Leaving in a refrigerator over night. Repeat this process if needed.
