Blood effects

"'Tis Pity She's A Whore" is a relatively gruesome play that involves various death scenes, from stabbings to eye gouging to simple fight scenes. As the chandler is small studio space and the seating was arranged in Traverse, we needed to create realistic blood effects. the blood we used was acquired from "Hands on" and we used the Blood Bags Techinique for the stabbings.

Hedgehog

Throughout the run of the performance, stage management had to make up 'Hedgehogs' which are baked potatoes with cocktail sticks sticking out of them with party snacks on the other end of them. The director chose cheese to be on the end of them. All the ingredients/utilities can be sourced from Tesco or any other supermarket. They were fairly easy to create and the process is as follows:

X1 baked potato (aprox 80p), x1 roll of tinfoil (aprox £1.50), x1 box of cocktail sticks (aprox 60p), x1 large block of cheese (aprox 1.50)

Begin my wrapping the baked potato in the tinfoil ensuring its tightly covered. Stick cocktail sticks into the potato to make it look like a hedgehogs spikes. Now cut the cheese into small cubes and place them on the other end of the cocktail sticks.

We changed the cheese after every two performances as the smell became slightly overwhelming...
