Reuben Lai was born in Singapore and studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He is currently at the Alexander Gibson Opera School of the RSAMD studying with Peter Wilson and is the recipient of a grant from Chevron-Texaco. Recently, Reuben was selected to be a Samling Scholar, working with Sir Thomas Allen and Isobel Buchanan in private and public masterclasses. He has sung under notable conductors such as John Nelson, Sir Colin Davis, Richard Hickox, David Porcelijn, Lim Yau, Robert Casteels, Nelson Kwei and Tsung Yeh. Since coming to Scotland, Reuben has been involved in singing in opera galas and oratorios all over the country.
