Biography

Born on 23rd March 1989 in Derby, but escaping to Scotland at an early age, Rachael grew up by the sea in the lovely town of Ayr. Throughout her childhood she could usually be found drawing in a corner or treading the boards at PACE youth theatre. However, it wasn't until fairly late on in her education at Belmont Academy that she finally realised there was a way of combining her loves of art and drama when she designed a costume and a set as part of both her Higher & Advanced Higher Art courses. After discovering how much she enjoyed this, and with the final few months of high school looming, she decided it was fate when she stumbled across the BA TPA course at the RSAMD, and went on to successfully apply!

In her first year of study, Rachael worked on various projects including hypothetical designs for the Philip Ridley play 'Ghost From A Perfect Place', and a collaborative project on the theme of 'A Sense of Belonging'. She then spent the summer of 2008 working on an amateur pantomime production, performed by the youth of her local church, of 'Hansel and Gretel' which she ambitiously designed, produced and directed on a budget of just £50.

Now in her second year at the RSAMD, she is currently working on a design project for Shakespeare's 'The Tempest', having just finished her role as Assistant Designer on the production of 'The Love For Three Oranges'.
