Overview

Smiles is a Lighting Engineer and aspiring Lighting Designer based in Glasgow, developing an interest in Lighting throughout high school through National Five Drama. Having been around theatre from a young age through acting lessons before realising they enjoyed being backstage a lot more, having occupied a variety of roles throughout high school tech but settling on lighting as their favourite. Gaining experience through corporate jobs such as car shows and conferences, hoping to move into live music and film. Also wanting to design for a few bigger more horror centric theatrical shows. Wanting to move into more experimental installation pieces and artistic pieces utilising lights to create art within certain spaces, and to tour as an LD for a band wanting to face new challenges and new working environments.

They are a first year student at The Royal Conservator of Scotland graduating in 2026, hoping to move straight into working once they graduate and aspiring to break into music and film. With a keen interest in video and wanting to explore AV and projection more within theatre spaces.
