Hard Black Masking

RCS has a large stock of flats. The majority of these are black wool serge-covered masking flats for the Athenaeum. These can be recovered if needed, to avoid having to construct more flattage. The full list of available flats is below.

There are also a number of smaller flats listed below. These can be used in a variety of ways, such as entrance maskers, quick change booths, or masking in the Chandler.

Increasingly, RCS will be looking to save flats built for productions. In general, these will be stored in the On-Site Container. Details of these and other stored resources can be found on the Built Resources page.

Note: If a flat is marked with SL or SR then it should be used on that side of the stage to ensure the seam is less visible to the audience. Those marked with SL/SR have the seam in the middle.
