Curtain Call Cabaret formerly known as the Inner Space Project 2011 was an event organized, installed and run by the first year Management and Technology students; which took place on Friday 28th January 2011 for staff and students of the RSAMD, onstage behind the iron in the New Athenaeum Theatre, with performers from first year BA Musical Theatre.

Production Management

Communication (including about 5 million emails) was the main task of Production Management in this project.

We made contact with the following people to book equipment, staff, rooms etc:

Where the Monkey Sleeps The RSAMD cafe bar were hugely helpful, they provided the bar (beer, wine, soft drinks, crisps and sweets), bar staff and bits and pieces like tablecloths at no cost to us. We contacted them via their website, [www.wtms.co.uk], who forwarded our request on to Jim at the Academy.

Client Services Client services were able to provide 14 round tables (from the AGOS foyer) and 60 chairs for us for the audience. We also had to make Client Services aware that there was an event being put on- confirm that it was a private, staff and student only night, and give finish times for the dress rehearsal and performance nights.

Venue Techs Between production management, LX and sound, we must have spoken with the venue techs nearly every day for 2 weeks. It was through them we booked all our kit, were taught how to use certain pieces of kit, and booked dressing rooms for the performers.

Student Union Steve at the SU was very helpful, mentioning the event in several Academy-wide emails, taking tickets for people to collect from the office, and displaying our poster.

Stage Management

For Curtain Call Cabaret we used the following communications equipment

5x Belt Packs and Headsets (DSM, LX Op, Sound Op, SM Backstage and a spare)

3x Motorola Communication Radios with pieces (LX Op, DSM and SM)

No cue lights were used

Technical Stage Management

Equipment Used

For Curtain Call Cabaret we used the following TSM related equipment

Counterweight 2 - Full Black Tab (To Mask Iron)

Counterweight 29 - 2x Half Black Tabs

Counterweight 27 - 6m Triangular Truss Hung (3x 3m Strops and 3x 2m Steel Drifts)

1x Full Black Tab - Tied to scaff bar and suspended under prompt side fly floor using hemp lines to raise it and cleat it off to the fly floor (To Hide Prompt Side Wing)

600mm high stage created from 7 peices of steel deck (x6 8'x4' and x1 4'x4')

3 sets of treads - USC, DSR and DSL - were used for access to and from stage.

Notes

TSM for this performance was largely a fairly simple matter of hanging blacks and positioning steel deck.

The setting for the space we aimed to still resemble a stage space, rather than creating a black box, however in hindsight we would probably have hung a second black, US and gridded, to hide the cyc, which was still visible above the 2 half tabs in place.

2x Mac TW1's
