The design for Into the New 2021 was a very simple yet tricky system. Sound for the show was targeted at different streaming platforms and recording platforms. This meant that we did not use the main PA system for the show as it was not necessary. Instead we used 4x Gentec speakers which were hired from the warehouse in Glasgow as operator speakers. This allowed us to send a program feed to the Snd op, LX op, DSM and then a spare one was for assessors to have thir own feed for Performances. We then sent a Left and Right mix of the show to the camera operators for their recordings, this was without vocals however as a clean vocal channel was sent to a separate camera so that it could be mixed in post. | |||

Though the black box set-up was fairly simple, a few show specific elements required more specificity. The pink cloth and duvet had to nestle between bars 18 (Border) and 19 (Full Black) because of a lack of real estate in that area. We put a 12M bar on hemp and hauled them out and in by hand.
The pink wall flat ended up being substantially heavy and had to be loaded intermittently. Once the bar was taking tension on the lines, we had to load the cradle in that position. This is dangerous as it produces a significantly cradle heavy bar before it is taking the weight of the set element. Clipping and braking the bar are essential and "wrapping" the lines as it flys out is advised.
