Pro Tools Cheats

Provided is a list of keyboard shortcuts I have used in the past to help speed up production of either live recordings or the manufacture of sound effects

Create new track

APPLE COMMAND + N (MAC)

CNTRL + N (PC)

Record enable selected track

Single track:

CLICK “RECORD ENABLE” BUTTON IN TRACKS CHANNEL STRIP (MAC & PC)

All Tracks:

OPTION + CLICK “RECORD ENABLE” BUTTON ON ANY TRACK (MAC)

ALT + CLICK “RECORD ENABLE” BUTTON ON ANY TRACK (PC)

Commence recording

F12 (MAC & PC)

APPLE COMMAND + SPACEBAR (MAC)

CNTRL + SPACEBAR (PC)

Stop Recording

SPACEBAR (MAC & PC)

To switch between different recording modes (ie. Non-destructive, Loop, Quickpunch and Destructive)

CONTROL + CLICK “RECORD” BUTTON IN TRANSPORT WINDOW (MAC)

RIGHT CLICK “RECORD” BUTTON IN TRANSPORT WINDOW (PC)

Record safe mode

Single track:

APPLE COMMAND + CLICK RECORD ENABLE BUTTON ON TRACK (MAC)

CNTRL + CLICK RECORD ENABLE BUTTON ON TRACK (PC)

All Tracks:

APPLE COMMAND + OPTION + CLICK RECORD ENABLE BUTTON FOR ANY TRACK (MAC)

Edit Modes

Shuffle: F1

Slip: F2

Spot: F3

Grid: F4

Edit Tools

Zoom: F5

Trimmer: F6

Selector: F7

Grabber: F8

Scrubber: F9

Pencil: F10

Smart Tool: F6 + F7

Play Track

From selected position: CLICK STARTING POINT + SPACEBAR
